Phase One

The group should be split into two, having half of each roll on each side. The boss will jump between each section every time he reaches 100 energy, but while he isn’t on the platform there will be many adds spawning that need dealing with by the group. When the boss reaches 100 energy, he will cast Devastation Leap. Anyone who doesn’t move out of this will likely die so communicate to let the other group know to be ready.
Whenever a Magma Mystic spawns, this should be top priority to kill. The tank can drag the boss and any other enemies to this Mystic to allow the group to cleave the rest of the enemies, just ensure the Magma Mystic dies fast. Every time the boss hits the tank with a spell, lots of brown swirls will appear that just need dodging. The boss will also perform a frontal attack, keep an eye on where he is facing. As a general rule, don’t stand behind the tank.
The boss will target players occasional with Blazing Spear. When he does this, move away from the group as it will drop a puddle on the floor that can get in a way. There are rocks on the platform that can be used to throw at any adds that are climbing up to the group. Ideally use these to kill the guards and huntsman, as they have actual abilities and deal more damage than the wallclimbers. No enemy can reach the large door in the centre, if they do the raid will take massive damage every time the door gets struck.
Once the boss reaches 25% health this cycle will stop and he will jump onto his phoenix, recovering 10% of his health and landing near the door ready to begin phase two.

Phase Two

Two groups are still required for this phase. This is due to the ability Catastrophic Slam, which happens whenever he reaches 100 energy. He will face the door and and cast a massive soak. It requires roughly half the group to protect the door, otherwise the door will explode for deadly raid damage. Players who stand in this soak will also get a debuff causing the next Catastrophic Slam cast to deal 500% more damage. For that reason having two groups alternating the soak will keep the group alive.
The only other new mechanic in this phase to keep an eye on is Flaming Cudgel. He uses this on the tank but it will now put a small circle on all players that explodes for moderate damage after a few seconds. Just make sure to spread out, so no two players are in each others circle when it goes off. Because this phase ramps up over time, it’s usually a better idea to use Heroism/Bloodlust in this phase and get the boss down quick.

Glossary

Warlord Kagni

The main boss of the encounter. Defeating him stops the Zaqali invasion.

Heavy Cudgel

Deals massive physical damage to his primary target and anything in a frontal cone in that direction. Heavy Cudgel applies a debuff increasing all physical damage taken by 15% for 45 seconds. This effect stacks. Heavy Cudgel also causes Cave Rubble to fall from the ceiling.

Cave Rubble

Rubble falls from the ceiling, causing heavy physical damage to players within 6 yards.

Devastating Leap

Warlord Kagni leaps across to the opposite platform causing massive volcanic damage to anyone within 12 yards of where he lands and knocking them back. Molten Fissures radiate out from his landing position.

Molten Fissure

Exploding swirls that deal heavy fire damage to anyone within 6 yards. Warlord Kagni spawns loads of these every time he uses Devastating Leap.

Magma Mystic

This is the most powerful of the four adds that spawn. The mystic pulses heavy raid damage that ramps up over time until it’s shield is broken.

Obsidian Guard

A strong melee add which does AOE damage and a frontal lava beam attack.

Flamebound Huntsman

A ranged add that throws Blazing Spears at players, hitting other players within 6 yards of the target.

Zaqali Wallclimber

The weakest add, these will try to run straight for the door to cause a Barrier Backfire.

Arbalist Fire

Shots fired by nearby artillery that makes swirls all over the floor.

Catastrophic Slam

When Warlord Kagni reaches 100 energy, he aims at the door with a massive attack. This needs half the group to soak the damage to prevent a Barrier Backfire. Players who take damage from this will get the Weakened Vitality debuff.

Barrier Backfire

The elder door is protected by a forcefield. If any enemy strikes the door, it will cause an explosion for massive damage to all players.

Weakened Vitality

Players who take damage from Catastrophic Slam will receive this debuff, causing them to take 200% additional damage from the following Catastrophic Slam.

Flaming Cudgel

In phase two, Warlord Kagni‘s cudgel flames with power, now when he strikes his target he causes all players to erupt in flames after 6 seconds causing damage to anyone within 6 yards.

Desperate Immolation

When Warlord Kagni reaches 25% health, he will channel towards his phoenix mount, stealing it’s life force to heal Kagni by 35% health. This gives him the Ignara’s Fury buff for the rest of the fight.

Ignara’s Fury

After casting Desperate Immolation, Kagni will gain a buff causing all players to take moderate fire damage every second for the remainder of the encounter.
