Tanks

  • Taunt swap at 5 – 7 stacks of Searing Claws.
  • The off tank should soak as many Shrapnel Bombs as possible. Each one leaves an 8 second stacking DoT.
  • If Shrapnel Bombs aren’t cleared within 30 seconds they will explode.

The Fight

Zskarn is a one phase so pop Heroism/Bloodlust early, before all the mechanics begin to build up and while everyone has their offensives cooldowns ready. Throughout the fight, Zskarn will use Blast wave, knocking players back and dealing heavy damage. Players should always be aware of what is behind them and avoid standing close to Dragonfire Traps or Shrapnel Bombs.
Zskarn will set fire to several Dragonfire Traps across the room, making them swell with large circles of fire. These will limit space in the encounter while active. The only way to deactivate these traps is by killing Dragonfire Golems, who will drop an item allowing players to run close to a Dragonfire Trap, target it and use the extra action button that appears.

When the Dragonfire Golems spawn, every DPS should move from Zskarn and focus these down fast. This is to stop them walking up to additional Dragonfire Traps and activating them early. certain crowd controls work on these but not all, but you do not want to leave these actively walking around.

Every time Zskarn reaches 100 energy he will use Tactical Destruction which causes three of the dragon mouths around the room to build up doing a huge AOE after a few second, all players need to run out of these, into the safe section. Because of the way this works along with Dragonfire Traps, this fight is about space management and dealing with area denial.
The last thing players need to watch out for are the Shrapnel Bombs. Four bombs will be thrown nearby that require a player to take the damage within 30 seconds. The damage from these was nerfed several times, now allowing anyone to soak one without too much worry, though having the off tank deal with some is a good idea. These do leave an 8 second DoT so taking two of these is often a bad idea. The only other mechanic is Unstable Embers, which causes all players to gain a small circle around them that explodes shortly after, just spread out and this will not cause much trouble.

Glossary

Searing Claws

Zskarn hits his primary target dealing light fire damage and applying a stacking DoT lasting 20 seconds.

Blast Wave

Knocks all players back dealing heavy damage and applying a DoT dealing light damage every 0.5 seconds for 15 seconds.

Unstable Embers

Covers all players in flames, causing them and anyone within 5 yards of them to take moderate fire damage every second for 10 seconds.

Shrapnel Bomb

Bombs that sit on the floor counting down. After 30 seconds these explode dealing massive damage and heavy fire damage every second for 10 seconds. If a player soaks this, it will instead only damage that player for heavy damage and apply an 8 second DoT instead.

Tactical Destruction

When Zskarn reaches 100 energy he causes the 3 closest dragon statues to erupt dealing deadly damage to anyone it hits.

Dragonfire Traps

Zskarn activates nearby traps, making them pulse moderate fire damage every second for 6 second to anyone who steps into it. This effect stacks.

Animate Golems

Zskarn activates several golems in the area, causing them to seek out nearby Dragonfire Traps and activate them.

Salvage Parts

Looted parts from a defeated golem, allowing the player to deactivate a Dragonfire Trap.
